I believe Washington State to be the greatest place to raise a child.   Not only is our State beautiful, but we really have so many places we can take our children to celebrate life.  From a great outdoors in our parks, mountains and valleys to a wide range of multicultural flair.

To begin with, Washinton has 3 National parks, Mount Rainier, the Olympic, and the North Cascades.

Here is an easy list to our state parks, and some of our great city parks in and around the Seattle area.

Around our 3 centers are the LynnwoodShoreline, Mountlake Terrace, Kirkland, Redmond, EdmondsWoodinville -->Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts.  Check them all out.  In each city, there are many activites for your children to participate in and to be a part of, its more than just running in the grass!

hErE is a list that we have taken our children on Field Trips and they have really enjoyed them:

Hiram M. Chittenden Locks

Tourists and locals enjoy watching the parade of sailboats, motorboats, tugs, barges and yachts passing through, as the locks' water levels are adjusted to allow their safe passage.

Another popular spot is the fish ladder, built to allow salmon to pass between fresh and salt water, and to navigate the locks. Glass panels below the water line make it possible to watch the fish as they swim through the ladder.

Just north of the locks are the Carl S. English, Jr. Botanical Garden, perfect for a relaxing stroll all year round, and the Visitor Center, which features displays on the history and operations of the Lake Washington Ship Canal.

Volunteer Park Conservatory

"Seattle’s Crystal Palace"

As the Volunteer Park Conservatory approaches its 100-year anniversary, it remains as unique today as it was in 1912, its mission still to educate, collect and conserve a richly diverse collection of plants .

Five houses on the conservatory represent five distinct environments, from jungle to desert. Theres also a Cactus House, a Fern House and a Bromeliad House.
